our pastoral team
Gatorade's old slogan was, "Is it in you?" Westpoint believes that those who follow Jesus daily have His Spirit WITHIN them blossoming the "fruit of the Spirit" - love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control - out of them into their everyday life.

As people are toughing it out, loving no matter the cost, the game of life can get difficult. In the New Testament, "pastors" are not described as high-powered CEO types. Instead, they are described as servants who equip followers of Jesus for daily ministering to the people they encounter in the course of their everyday lives.

Thus, Westpoint suggests that their "pastoral team" would better be called "Gatorade givers" - trying to give whatever it takes to resource and refresh followers of Jesus whose daily lives are the real story of the church. We are no more important or no more "spiritual." Rather, we are walking alongside everyone else, learning the ways of Jesus and living them together, and being
sharpened by other followers while hopefully sharpening them.

Jason Dukes

pastor

Jason and his wife Jennifer were married in August 1998. They have 4 wonderful children - Caleb, Katey, Abby, and Ella. Jason grew up in New Orleans, LA. Jennifer grew up in Orlando. They met at Union University in Jackson, TN. Jason graduated from there with his BA in 1996, while Jennifer graduated from there with her BSN in 1998. Jason has served as a Children’s Pastor, Student Pastor, and a College Pastor prior to helping start Westpoint. He graduated from New Orleans Seminary in 2003.

He and Jennifer believe that their "must" in life is to give themselves away to their kids, their family, their friends and neighbors, and their community. Jason hopes to be an encourager and equipper for the Westpoint family as well as other church leaders as they exist to be the church in their daily activity and influence others to do the same. He also hopes to grow along with the Westpoint family as a cultural-collision point, influencing the culture around us to follow Jesus, live the way we were made to live, be the church in the marketplace and around the world, and live sent daily.

Jason really enjoys teaching and writing. He teaches for a local college extension. And, he has authored the book Live Sent: you are a letter. He also authors several blogs, including JasonCDukes.com and HumanityBeautiful.com.

Jim Collins

co-pastor

Jim was born on a cold February day in 1975. For the first five years of his life, Jim lived with a group of disco dj’s who loved nothing more than roller skating the night away. It is during this time that Jim is credited with inventing such dances as the Robot, the Hustle, and the Freak.

Jim spent the next ten years of his life living with a family of ninjas in the Himalayan mountains. These years were filled with training on the bow staff, throwing star, and nun-chucks. That training served him well when he was released into the rugged Indian countryside at the age of 15. For the next few years, Jim
learned to put his ninja training to use as he developed the survival skills necessary to tame the wild creatures with which he daily did battle.

Somewhere around adulthood, Jim emerged from the wild and entered into a new phase of his life. These next years were known as the “covert operative” years. Jim was part of countless missions around the world, working on behalf of several unnamed governments. Because of his efforts, it has been said that Jim has helped “preserve peace, not only in our time, but for generations to follow.”

Leaving this life behind, Jim entered into the business world at the age of 25. He quickly gained notoriety as an expert on leadership within the corporate world. Two best-selling books on business bear his name.

Feeling that his past experiences were not enough to fulfill him, Jim turned to what has become his most daring endeavor to date. He is now co-pastor of Westpoint Church. Jim is responsible for overseeing the weekly Worship Gathering, small groups, and community service projects.

Jim has been married to the lovely Beth for 12 years. Jim and Beth have 2 beautiful children, Megan and Jacob (actually Megan is really the beautiful one, while Jacob is considered extremely handsome).

Jim likes_long walks on the beach, poetry, Nicholas Sparks books.

Jim dislikes_people who take themselves (and staff bios) too seriously!

Michael Anderson

pastor to families with students

Michael and his wife Katie were married in July 2009. Michael grew up in Morristown, TN just outside of the glorious city of Knoxville, TN where he attended The University of Tennessee. He graduated in 2005 from UTK with a BA in Communication. Katie grew up in the Orlando area. She graduated from the University of Florida and currently teaches elementary school in the local area.

Michael then moved to Orlando right after graduation to help run a local youth ministry. He served as the Middle School Director and campus youth pastor for the last few years prior to becoming a resident pastor with Westpoint in August ’07.

Michael loves connecting with people (especially students, college students, and young adults), walking together with them, and giving himself away to them for Christ. He wants to
encourage students and young adults in the community to begin to grasp how wide, and deep, and high the love of Christ is for them. In doing this, Michael wants them to begin to understand how loved they are by our Savior and dream the dreams that Christ has set in each of their hearts. In doing this they will take ownership of these dreams because of Love to become world-changers for the Kingdom of Christ. Michael believes that how the world views the Gospel of Christ will largely be based on how his generation displays it to the world.

Josh Taylor

pastor to families with children

Josh and Kelly Taylor were married in October of 2000. Josh planned ahead of time for their wedding to be held in the year 2000 so he would always remember how long they've been married and not get in trouble. They have two beautiful girls, Morgan (born June 28th, 2002) and Cameron (born April 21st, 2005).

Josh grew up in Baton Rouge, LA and Kelly in Eustis, FL. Josh also serves as General Manager of HOUSE BLEND CAFE. Visit the cafe's website by clicking here. View a short video about HOUSE BLEND CAFE by clicking here.

Josh and Kelly are committed to equipping parents with children to learn and live the ways of Jesus as families. Along with an amazing group of volunteers, they lead our Sunday morning kids ministry called CompassKids. They are also passionate about unleashing people to be the church in their marketplace setting and to realize that everyone is equally called to live on mission for Christ, not just the pastoral team. In fact, everyone else is in better position to love those outside the church and it's the pastoral team's role to equip the church with what they need on the field, like a towel or water boy.

Josh's Likes_hanging out with the family, daddy daughter dates, watching movies, and doing life together with friends and neighbors.

Josh Dislikes_people who load toilet paper so that it hangs from the back. It's just not tolerated. Intense flogging for anyone caught doing it.

Most importantly, Tommy, his wife Patti, and their wonderful kids are a loving, amazing addition to the Westpoint team.
