The essence of the church lived out in the daily can be summed up in one word - LOVE. The Bible says that God is love. Jesus, God's most profound "Word" to us about Himself, showed us a life of love like no other. We get to walk in relationship with Him, and His love compels us to live in loving relationship with one another. As we are learning the ways of Jesus together and living those ways daily, we must put the interests of others above our own, giving ourselves away as Jesus did.

We emphasize that we don't "go" to church, but rather we ARE the church. 140 plus times the New Testament refers to "church," but not one is a place or an event. Instead, "church" is a bride, a body, a who, not a what, someone, not something or somewhere. It's people, following Jesus together, gathering together, serving together, loving together. LIVING SENT.

serve Haiti.
On January 12th at 5:00pm, life changed for the people of Port-au-Prince, Haiti and its surrounding areas. As seen in the picture above of one example of what remains from the National Cathedral of Haiti, they were left homeless and desperate and in need by a devastating earthquake. Some have chosen to declare their opinions as to "why" this happened specifically to Haiti. But the church need not ask why. Simply what now? How can we serve?

Here are the ways that Westpoint is encouraging you to help:

_by praying for and supporting the Clark family (the daughter and son-in-law of a Westpoint couple) who live on the southwest corner of Port-au-Prince

_by donating to New Missions and Florida Baptists, both of whom have significant presence and impactful ministry in Haiti

_by purchasing a Haiti T-Shirt from our friends at Help End Local Poverty

_by signing up to go with a recovery team as we look ahead and plan potential trips in partnership with Florida Baptists and New Missions (simply fill out the "question or prayer request" form to the right and submit it)

Let's be the church together as we serve the people of Haiti. And don't forget, the real story of the church is how we are serving the people around us right here everyday. Let's keep living sent together in the daily!!!
